The Big Lie

The Big Lie.

That phrase was repeated often in the news media just after the 2020 election. On the Trump side of things, the big lie was that Biden legitimately won. On the left’s side we heard Biden repeat the phrase “the big lie” when talking about the claim of a rigged election. Same phrase, opposite meanings. Society had a choice to believe one or the other.

The truth is, whether you believe the 2020 election was rigged or not, “the big lie” confronting humanity is not about an election, nor any political leader. It isn’t the lie that was covid, although many politicians and pharmaceutical companies with agendas clearly lied about the nature of covid. And of course there have been many lies that have been perpetrated onto society from world leaders throughout the years, and those that pull the puppet strings.  They have their power-hungry agendas. We live in a fallen world.

But none of these lies are the Big Lie. The biggest lie of all comes from the darkness – the enemy of God and His creation. That is the lie that says God’s creation, including His most precious creation, mankind, was not created at all, and that we have no creator. This Big Lie has managed to deceive millions, and its subversion of the truth is so plainly sinister that many are still not aware just how backward it is.

Men with an agenda to remove God from society have managed to convince entire generations that life on Earth came from explosions that created matter and expanded the Universe. But perfect order, which is what we have on Earth – the only known planet that can sustain life – does not come from chaos. Chaos never creates perfect order. Perfect order is actually Divine Order, which comes from its source, and its source is the Creator of Life.

Only an intelligent creator could conceive of and manifest into physical reality, the details that made every living creature. Each human and animal on our planet is made up of unique DNA. And each unique individual has a God-given purpose for existing on this Earth at any given time. There is nothing about humanity or this Earth that suggests it was formed out of chaos or without reason. THAT is the Big Lie.

God sent His Word to the Earth and His Word became flesh through Jesus, His Son. What does Jesus represent, then? God’s Word. What is God’s Word? The Truth.

“And ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32

Jesus broke the chains that were the lies of the enemy, and died in the flesh so that we could be saved from death. Lies are death, while truth is life. That is why Jesus is called the truth, the light, and the way.

As believers, we are CO-HEIRS with Jesus in Heaven! But many will be deceived out of their inheritance because that’s what the enemy of God does – he deceives God’s children. That’s why the Scriptures say, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” – Hosea 4:6

The enemy of God is not only a very skillful liar, but he uses people to achieve his goals. Some of his most successful lies are the ones that sound so nice when humans speak them. Remember “follow the science?” It sounded nice….isn’t science a good thing? Well, sure it is. But it certainly isn’t something to follow. Science is made up of ongoing theories, research, studies and hypotheses and it is always to be questioned, not followed. We follow Jesus and question science. Yet the enemy succeeded in getting so many to speak – and do- the opposite.

When confronted with ANY weapon of the enemy, including disease, it is a lie that we should turn to “the science” or the media or the government for an answer. We should instead reach for our armor, which is God’s Word. We should speak it out loud, and often.

I like to say Ephesians 6: 11-17 aloud in the mornings, and when I do I personalize it (Today, I put on the full armor…” )

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Once I am “armed” I read Psalm 91, and Psalm 23. I also recite and claim Isaiah 54:17, which says no weapon formed against me shall prosper.

All of these words are the truth, and they make us free.
